People tend to treat digital storage as permanent: photos get backed up, sorted by year, and assumed to be safe. Outdated Authenticity questions that assumption. The project recreates a familiar desktop with folders from 2004 to 2020. Everything looks organized, but the images inside are blurred and pixelated, and clicking one only triggers an alert that the memory can’t be rendered.
The interface is one people use every day, so the loss feels personal. Having a file is not the same as keeping a memory, and the piece is a reminder not to be complacent about the digital archives people trust with their past. Built with Runable, an AI web builder, and refined through repeated revision.
